The 2009-2010 school year has gotten off to a busy and successful start for our PTA, and hopefully for our students and parents as well!
Some of our highlights for the school year so far include:
- Reaching our projected sales goal in the Sally Foster Sale with the potential to make even more through continued online sales.
- A time of family fun and games at the All School PTA Spaghetti Dinner. We had a delicious dinner, a quick informative meeting and a BLAST playing BINGO! Kids and parents alike had a great time!
- The Kid’s Karnival was a huge hit this year! The community came together for some good old- fashioned fun and to top it all off, we once again achieved our fundraising goal!
- Vaccinating a record number of students, staff and family members at our Flu Clinic.
Along with these events and fundraisers, we have all had to wade through the new assignment plan, trying to make sense of new boundaries and assignment areas. We hope that many of you took the opportunity to weigh in with your thoughts and opinions. The PTA will try to host a meeting in early December or January on this subject and more. We’ll keep you posted in the Weekly Bear Bulletin.
If you have questions or concerns regarding the plan in the meantime, you can contact Bruce Taylor, our School Board Liaison.
We are truly appreciative to our parents who so faithfully support the PTA by volunteering thousands of hours to help, and spend their hard earned money to continue to fund the many important things that PTA dollars support.
As we move on toward the Holiday Season, we continue our fundraising opportunities with:
- Laurelhurst T-shirt Sales. Consider these shirts and maybe a sports duffel bag as a holiday gift!
- Varlamos, Met Market, and PCC cards are available all year round and would make nice gifts as well!
- You can shop with Amazon.com from our website and Laurelhurst receives 5% on each sale!
- The Annual Wreath Sale is underway now through Nov. 20th. Decorate your home with a beautiful wreath or garland and support your school at the same time!
Be sure to take advantage of the resources provided to keep your family informed and check out the Weekly Bear Bulletin, information from your room parents, The Handbook, and the website for information.
We wish all of you a very Happy Thanksgiving and a wonderful, healthy Holiday Season!
