Summer Salutations!
This school year has flown by and summer is finally here. Although we’re always excited and ready for the break, the end of the school year is bittersweet. We say goodbye to families, friends and teachers, moving on to other places, and all will be missed. For those of you leaving, we thank you for your contributions to our school and wish you and your families the very best!
The year has ended with some wonderfully successful events. The first annual Farmer’s Market was a huge hit and was a perfect complement to our Multi-Cultural Dinner. Not to be out-done, the Ice Cream Social exceeded all expectations with record breaking attendance and fun had by all. Many families took part in Bike to School month and were rewarded with a visit from the bike fairy! All this and a lot more helped to round out a good spring, despite the dreary weather. As always, we want everyone to know how much your help and participation is appreciated. Without you, all of the great events and little extras that help make Laurelhurst unique would not be possible.
Looking ahead to September, the Welcome New Student Night will be held on Tues., Sept. 7ht from 6:15 to 7:30. This is a nice opportunity for students to meet their teachers, see the classroom and generally feel more comfortable about the first day of school. On the first day of school, all parents are invited to the Welcome Coffee Hour, held in the gym from 9:15 to 10:00; a perfect time to cry on a shoulder if needed, celebrate the kids being back in school and/or sign up for some of our many volunteer opportunities! Please note that Curriculum Night will be earlier this year, on Tues. Sept. 14th.
It has been a pleasure serving as your PTA presidents and working with so many talented and dedicated people. We wish everyone a summer full of relaxation and fun in the sun!
Respectfully,
Stephanie Neffner & Marcy Brighton
