The Resource Room at John Hay serves Kindergarten through fifth grade students who qualify for specially designed instruction. We are currently staffed with one full-time teacher and one part-time teacher and serve up to 33 children. We provide academic, behavior, study skills, and social/emotional support as indicated on our students’ Individualized Education Plans. In addition, services may be provided within the general education classroom or students may be pulled out for small group instruction. A variety of instructional strategies may be used including:
- Small group instruction
- Direct instruction
- Hands-on learning
- Team approach with classroom teacher/related service providers
- Accommodations and modifications for class work
- Test preparation
- Built in study skills
- Reinforcement and review of curriculum
