For the moment, this message board will be used to communicate to you, the teachers, staff and students, how to use the Interagency Website to it's fullest advantage.

Interagency has purchased a product called HomePage Buillder. There are plenty of copies for every site and every computer. Please collect your copy from Cindy Nomura (csnomura@seattleschools.org) This program will allow you to:

1) create web pages in the same way you create documents using Microsoft Word

2) Edit your digital or scanned images and put them on the web

3) Edit video for those of you who have video cameras and capture cards. Home page builder also has a really slick program that helps you create "web-compressed" video so you can put your videos right on the web.

Interagency is going to continue with web design training for those who are interested. Please contact Cindy Nomura if you'd like to be part of the training.

Discussion of protocol
1 - NEVER have files in your "www" folder that aren't actually meant for upload
2 - keep file sizes as small as possible, especially on picture
3 - always have an "images" folder on every directory level in your "www" folder
4 - name files using the date, i.e. "billHoldingFish.StudentTrip.8.19.02" It is ok to use caps, periods, and underscore ("_") but avoid spaces in file names for the web
5 - clean up and delete stuff in your www folder that you're not using OFTEN it is like a living room
6 - Be very clear and organized with file names especially when students are involved
7 - save a backup of your "www" folder in your "web" folder so you can make mistakes.
8 - email your Rar-ed websites to marknichols@attbi.com for our september launch
9 - do not email mark files over 500k. If they are bigger than this it means you have not done your resizing work
