Adapted from Louis Sachar's novel, Holes explored parallels between the characters in the book and the lives of our students. Greed, character improvement, redemption, friendship, and consequences for one's actions all play a part in fact and fiction. From reading the novel aloud in class to learning screen acting to producing the script, the students vividly brought this moving novel to life. This project was filmed at Back on Track, a site connected to an actual juvenile detention facility, bringing an urgent sense of duality to the film set.
