Introduction
to the A.L.E. Coaching (1 hour supervised teaching) model:
The
student is enrolled full time at the Seattle Public Schools - Homeschool
Resource Center. The student and parent are required to meet one hour
(60 minutes) per week, one-on-one with a certificated staff member.
Site Manager approval is required for enrollment in this model, but
no prior homeschool experience is necessary. If after 90 days working
with a staff member, it is determined that the student can participate
in the five-hours on-site model, the student will be admitted to that
program model with the rights and responsibilities beginning on the
date of admittance to that model. Definition: (WAC 392-121-182-2d)
Basic
Program Requirements:
The student must enroll in the Homeschool Resource Center.
The
student and parent must meet one-on-one with a certificated staff
member one hour per week to plan and evaluate academic activities.
The
parent/student must document that an additional 20 hours of instructional
time is spent pursuing educational activities.
The
student/parent must have on file a written plan that will be considered
the student's course of study that is approved by HRC staff.
The
plan must include: * A schedule of the duration of the program
with beginning and ending dates ·** A description of the learning
activities including where and when teaching activities will be conducted
·*** A reasonably accurate estimate of the average number of hours
per month the student will be engaged in learning activities. ****
A description of how student. *****Performance will be supervised,
evaluated and assessed.Each week the learning plan must be evaluated.
At that time revisions or additions can be made.
Educational
materials for the student's course of study will be provided by the
HRC.
How
Do I enroll my Child in the HRC ???
Contact
the Homeschool Resource Center (252-4720) to make arrangements to attend
the parent workshop or send us an e-mail:
1.
Contact the Homeschool Resource Center (HRC) to schedule an appointment
with the Site Manager. Participation requirements will be outlined at
the meeting. 2. At appointment discuss * Reasons for consideration of
ALE ** Past School Experience *** Expectations for participation. 3. If,
after attending the workshop, you are interested in enrolling your child
in the HRC, get an enrollment form from the HRC office. 4. When the enrollment
form is turned in an appointment can be made with a teacher consultant
to set up the weekly appointments.
Checklist
for teacher/consultant appointment:
Read, discuss, and sign the Contract Agreement.
Discuss
Educational Interests and Goals.
Baseline
Assessments ___ Reading ___ Math Computation ___ Spelling.
Start
permanent file for new student. Include this Checklist, Contract Agreement
& Baseline Assessment records.
Schedule
weekly sessions.
Make
copies of any permanent file records that the parent may want to keep.
Plan
initial assignments and provide record keeping materials for parent.
