The ALTERNATIVE LEARNING EXPERIENCE (ALE)1 class "on-site" model available at the Homeschool Resource Center is intended to serve families who want to be personally responsible for their child's education while having the resources of the school district available to assist them. The program at the HRC is not intended to be an "alternative school" or "day-care" where parents can send their children. Families who have not had success with traditional educational programs may find this to be an option that will serve them.

**Students participating in the ALE at the Seattle Homeschool Resource Center must be enrolled in the Seattle School District and must have been declared a home-based instruction student for a minimum of 90 days as defined in RCW 28A.225.010(4), immediately prior to enrolling in the program.

Reimbursement Policies:

  • Reimbursement for dollars spent toward HRC resources that are approved as educational materials or activities must be listed in the Student Learning Plan (SLP)..

  • A $400 reimbursement is budgeted per full time enrolled student per year in grades 1-12.

  • A $200 reimbursement is available to kindergarten students.

  • Reimbursement for materials and activities is subject to approval by the site manager. Materials purchased are the property of the HRC and will be marked with a "Property of HRC" stamp upon presentation for reimbursement.
