Safety Patrol

Welcome to the 2007-2008 school year!

Serving Our School Community through Service and Safety

Highland Park Elementary is pleased to again have a Safety Patrol program! This program is very important as we work as a community to keep our students safe when they cross certain intersections. The Safety Patrol is presently assisting students at 10th & Trenton before school after school. Adults will continue to be responsible for assisting students at other intersections.

This program is open to all fifth graders who are not assigned to ride a bus and who have a signed parent permission to participate. New members are welcome at any time! An information letter and contract are available in Room 208. Please return the signed contract and training will begin as soon as possible.

Reminder:

Hot chocolate is normally available on those many cold, rainy days.

FOOD DRIVE

We will have a second Food Drive beginning in May after Memorial Day. More information will be coming.

Signed Contracts are accepted throughout this

month and are available in Room 208!

Important

·        Students need to be at their assigned corner by 8:30 in the morning and by 3:00 in the afternoon (1:00 on early dismissal days). Therefore, students need to arrive at school before 8:25 and leave their classroom at 2:57.

·        It is important that parents let Mrs. Hossner know if their child will not be able to fulfill an assigned time. You may contact Mrs. Hossner at 252-2840 or at jmhossner@seattleschools.org.

·        Please encourage your child to bring and wear warm clothing, especially on days he or she has duty. It can get chilly when students stand out there for more than 15 minutes. Warm gloves, mittens, coats, and hats are good items to have on duty days during the cold winter months.

·        Safety equipment is important. We have highly visible vests, plastic hats, and long raincoats for the students to wear.

·        After morning duty, students are invited to come to Room 208 for a cup of hot chocolate. Students may also get hot chocolate after their afternoon duty on days that Mrs. Hossner doesn’t have a meeting.

·        A copy of the Safety Patrol Responsibilities & Expectations -A Contract for the Highland Park Safety Patrol can be found at the end of this page.

·         If you’d like to receive a copy of the schedule directly to your home or office computer, please send me your email address with Safety Patrol Schedule in the subject line.
