Principal’s Message

From Mrs. Gray

Thanks so much for all of your support in getting our school year off to such a great start. We had record attendance at our all school BBQ and it was wonderful to see so many of our families enjoying a warm Seattle night!

You will be receiving data sheets home with your child in the next few days. Please take time to correct and update this information as it is the information we use to contact you in the event of an emergency or illness at school. Individuals who are listed on this data sheet are the only individuals to whom we will release your child. It is imperative this information is accurate and detailed for the safety of your child. Please date and sign the sheet before you return it to school.

Please be reminded that our school day begins at 9:10 and ends at 3:20. There is no adult supervision before 8:45 or after 3:20. It is very unsafe for children to be outside on the playground unsupervised, so please do not drop them off before 8:45. The lunchroom opens for breakfast at 8:45. Students must be picked up daily at 3:20. Students get very worried when no one is here to pick them up and again, we have no supervision after 3:20.

We look forward to seeing everyone on September 30th at Curriculum Night!

  Supplemental Educational Services

All Highland Park students are eligible for Supplemental Educational Services as a result of our school not meeting Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) . We did not make the required gains in 3 out of 23 cells. These cells were Special Education (math and reading) and  low income. Supplemental Services refers to additional educational tutoring support outside of the school day. Enrollment forms and additional information will be available shortly in the school office. Information meetings are being held for parents to learn more about these services on the dates listed below. The services are being organized through our central office and specific questions should be directed to Rachel Osborn at 252-0079. Information meetings are as follows:

  • Thursday September 24th-7:00-8:00/Aki Kurose Middle School
  • Tuesday September 29th-7:00-8:00/Aki Kurose Middle School
