Hello, my name is Colette Swenson. I am the school counselor for Highland Park
Elementary. I also live in the One of my highest priorities as a counselor is to help students learn to recognize and respect the feelings of themselves and others. When children learn how to manage their own emotions and can acknowledge the feelings of others they become better problem solvers, and are more likely to enjoy good friendships. Research has shown that friendships impact academic learning and are central to the quality of children’s lives. I work closely with school staff, parents, and community agencies to address the various barriers to learning that students encounter.
