Important Things About Room 107

We have had a great school year and I have enjoyed meeting all of the families. This was my first year at Highland Park and it has been rewarding. We have had a very full year learning new skills and developing positive friendships. I wish all the students great success in the years ahead.

You may reach me before or after school at 252-8266 or at namodeo@seattleschools.org.

Take home folders go home on the first day of the week, usually Monday. Parent reviews work, initials calendar and assists child to do homework successfully. Folder with finished homework is due each day. Students will know which work is due when by completing their agenda.

The 20/20 calendar is done each month and the goal is to read 400 minutes or more. The due date will be marked on the take home folder calendar.

Points to remember:

  • Reading may be done by your child or by someone reading to him or her.
  • Try to vary the type of text your child reads:  books, magazines, flyers, maps, brochures, junk mail, newspaper, cartoons, comics, etc.

Birthdays – if your child wishes to bring a treat to share, please send enough for 21 students. We will also need plates and forks if a cake is sent instead of cupcakes. Birthday students will also celebrate by bringing pictures or one or two special things they would like to show to their friends. Please contact me if you have questions.

Snacks – We will have small snacks around recess time. I will let you know when you might want to send something. Please try to send something that is healthy. Please let me know if there are any dietary concerns. Peanuts are not a good idea since some children are allergic to them.

Volunteers/visitors – Let me know if you are interested in helping in our class on a regular basis, occasional basis, or with special projects. You are welcome to visit our classroom anytime, just let me know when so I can tell you about the schedule.
