First Grade – 2008-2009
I’ve had the privilege of being a
teacher with I enjoy being with children, love cats,
being with friends, traveling, and being with my husband! My past has also included a lot of singing
and acting. I’ve had the opportunity
to be in community musical theater!
It’s something I love! Also,
two cats and one dog live with us in our home! We love animals! We have lots to do this year in first
grade. The children will be learning
different standards that will challenge them more. They will continue to walk to read every
morning for their reading group. There
is a new math program that we are all excited about and it will offer many
new opportunities for the children. In
science we’ll be weather and balls and ramps. In our writing program that is new we’ll work
really hard with the writing process.
The children will be doing lots of different stories, drawing about
them first. This is to get the
children ready for second grade. Homework this year will go home on
Tuesdays and will need to be returned on Mondays. Please help your child remember to return
their work. I want them to start getting in the habit of having homework and
to learn to be responsible for it. Hopefully, I’ll be planning some field trips, I’ll be talking with the first grade team to see
where we’ll go. Stay tuned. Here’s to a wonderful year of first
grade! NEWS UPDATE: On December 18th, all the first
graders will be going by bus to the Children’s Museum. This will be a
wonderful opportunity for all of the children. We will leave at about 9:30 that day and
return at 2!
