Tet

by Nhat

I wish that every day is New Year, because in New Year my mom makes my favorite food which is “Banh Chung”. It is made of sweet rice on the outside, in the middle it has ground green beans and meat and it is wrapped with green banana leaves. It tastes so good that I can eat a whole one in one day. But whenever my mom made them, the kitchen always ends up every messy and I always help her clean up.

“Chuc mung nam moi” or happy New Year, I said to my mom and dad. After the wish, I get a red envelope with some money in there called “li xi”.

New Year is special to me because I get to spend a lot of time with my family and my relatives. When New Year arrives my relatives come to play with me. My family always starts to throw a party whenever all of my relatives come. On New Years Day we can see each other again, because normally our relatives live very far away. And so does my 3 sisters Phuonganh, Chauanh, and Thaiand. They go to school in the city and my family lives on an island in Vietnam.
