On
October first each year, the Chinese celebrate their independence day. I never
forgot the celebration of Chinese National independence day in the year of 2000.
On this day many people gathered in the city and watched street performances,
airplanes, acrobats, and dragon boat races, followed by the parade. The dragon
boats have ten people in them, with drummers and rowers. The boats look like
dragons with wooden dragon faces on them. The boats were in the river. Many
people stood near the river and watched the races. Some people watched the airplane
show in the sky, and many people were enjoying their lunches at the restaurant.
My family and I were having a picnic near by the river, enjoying the shows while
we ate our lunch. My mom had prepared sticky rice and
(soy sauce chicken). The chicken tasted tender and juicy with the wonderful
flavor of soy sauce. It was such a memorable sense that I will never forget
that day. It was also my last celebration of this holiday with my family in
my hometown.
