Ching Ming Jie

(Ghost Month)

by Brenda

It is Sunday and I'm at my grandpa's gravestone. My parents bought flowers and put them on the circle hole by the gravestone. My parents bought foods like duck, chicken, roast pig, fruits and wine. My parents put all the foods in a big tray. They would have little cups and put wine in them. My parents lighted up some incense and stuck them on the ground in front of the gravestone. We would wait a while. Then we would all pray. After that we would pour the wine in the front of the gravestone. Then we would pour some more wine into the cups. Then we would burn the spirit money and spirit papers. My parents and other people think if you burn spirit money and spirit papers they can be sent to the dead. After we burn the spirit money and spirit paper, we would wait a while and then pour the wine in front of the gravestone and we would put all the foods back into the boxes and all. Then we would leave. And that's what we do on Ching Ming Jie.
