The mission of the International Arts Consortium, which operates at Hamilton International Middle School (6-8) and John Stanford International School (K-5), is to integrate international arts with the study of world languages and international cultures and to internationalize the schools’ curricula in music, dance, drama, and visual arts. In order to accomplish this mission, Consortium members work together to pilot and present teacher training programs, workshops, residencies, and performances, with artists based locally and internationally. Thanks to the Washington State Arts Commission, and its Community Consortium Grant program, which, in part, funds the International Arts Consortium.

Above you can link to descriptions of some IAC residencies, with photographs, residency plans and assessment tools. Please check back for additional postings as we update links and continue to develop new projects. Because the contribution of the teaching artist is so valuable, and unique, we do not expect that you will be able to replicate these projects from the posted plans and tools alone. We do hope, however, that they will guide you to strategies and materials for working with artists in your own communities to bring the larger world into your classrooms.
Please contact lgbarilleau@seattleschools.org with any questions about these postings.
