My 10th Birthday

by Ming Yui from Hong Kong

Christmas day is also my birthday. On this special day, my mom took me to have breakfast. We ate Dim Sum and drank tea. When we went home, I rang the doorbell. No one answered the door. I used my mom's key to open the door. I went inside, and at the same time my family and relatives shout to me, "Happy Birthday!" I smelled fresh baked cake and other tasty food; there are mini sausages, chicken wings, B.B.Q pork, fried rice, salad and pineapple, and we are full. In addition to the food there were red eggs for everyone. Red egg is traditionally prepared for the birthday child who is under ten. Because I born on Christmas, we have a big Christmas tree in my house, and some presents under it. I touch the Christmas tree on top and slide my hand down on the branch. It feels soft. Then I played with my cousin. Suddenly the fireworks come up in the sky, it was so beautiful!

After they left, I opened the present and saw a big panda doll. This is my favorite Christmas present!
