Loy Knathong

by Onanong from Thailand

In the Twelfth Lunar Month, I hear people talking about Loy Krathong celebration day. This day is celebrated annually on the Full-Moon day. Every year my cousins come to my house this day. When I go to kitchen I smell some food that smell so good that make me hungry. And I hear the bell. I am so happy. When I hear the bell ring, I open the door and it is my aunt. When my aunt comes to my house she goes to kitchen right away and helps my mom to cook Phud Thai and something else. Phud Thai tastes sweet and sour. Now everybody in my family comes to my house. Everybody talks and eat dinner. I'm so happy that day. When we finish eating. We make krathongs. Krathongs is made from banana leaf and stem, and decorated with some flower. When we finish making krathongs we go to river to float the krathong. Before we put krathong in the water we have to wish for good things and wipe away the bad things with krathong. And I touch the water first before I put krathong on the water. After wishing we put krathongs on the water and they float away beautifully. That day I see many krathongs in the river and I have so much fun.
