The National Day is on the ten, ten (October tenth). This day is the birthday of our country, which is 91 years-old this year. Chinese start to celebrate this day in the 19th century, when the time Dr.Sun overturned the Ch’ings.
Taiwanese usually celebrates the National Day with a flag raising ceremony, parades by the military and school bands in the morning. A stunning fire works in Tai-Chung during the night.

This year in Seattle, there were a lot of activities to celebrate the National Day, such as the Taiwanese parades in China Town, the “International dancing show” in the University of Washington, and a big dinner party at the Shelton Hotel with the state governments and Taiwanese people.
My parents attended the party that day. It was exciting and thousands of people dressed very formal. The ballroom was beautifully decorated with red and gold colors. In the center of the ballroom displayed an icicle in the shape of a horse. There were may traditional Taiwanese foods prepared for the guests.

The party began with lion dance, drum beats and cheers. The evening ended with the appreciation to Dr. Sun Yan-sen.

This day is very important to Taiwanese. I also like the patience that Dr.Sun had; without him, there wouldn’t be Republic of China today. So I want to thank him too.
