Opening February 4,
2008!!
12-3 pm, Nathan
Hale Library
Hosted by Dan
Shapiro
The purpose
of the writing lab is to provide:
- Personalized support for
writing of all kinds and for students at all levels
- One on one instruction and
support or support in small groups
- General instruction in writing
skills or support specific to an assignment
How does it
work?
(Subject to
revision as we get up and running!)
- Students may refer themselves
during lunchtime. Students will
be seen on a first-come, first-served basis during lunch. (Note: We may extend to after school time instead of lunch time,
depending on the needs of students).
- If
a student is coming to the writing lab during class time, she/he must have a signed teacher
referral.
- If you are referring a student,
please clearly fill out the referral form.
- A student MUST show you the
teacher her/his referral form AFTER the writing lab consultation to show
evidence of the work done.
- Appointments will generally last
for 15-20 minutes.
- Students can bring hard or
electronic copies of their work.
At this
point, we’re going to experiment to see if there is a deluge of
referrals. Dan will work on
monitoring the flow of students, and we will continue to experiment with
different ways to get the maximum number of kids served most effectively.
