Action Plan #1: Eliminate the achievement gap in Mathematics by 2010.  Improve achievement as measured by WASL by 5% each year.  In 2007-2008 we will:

·        Continue to deepen curriculum and pedagogical alignment with weekly collaboration and analysis of student work.

·        Emphasize mathematical understanding as the primary goal.

·        Provide Math lab classes to provide additional time and depth for students needing extra support.

·        Meet in Critical Friends Groups to help deepen our classroom practice, discuss current research, analyze data, and address perplexing issues.

Action Plan #2: Eliminate the achievement gap in Reading by 2010.  Improve achievement as measured by WASL by 5% each year.  In 2007-2008 we will:

·        Provide 120 minutes per week of school-wide silent reading.

·        Build classroom libraries with exciting titles so that students have great books to choose!

·        Use pre-reading, word study, and reading strategies (such as “talking to the text”) and comprehension, analysis, synthesis, and evaluation strategies, such as Socratic Seminars, to support students as they “read to learn.”  These strategies will be used throughout the school.

·        Provide literacy support and direct instruction in Pathways Literacy classes.

Action Plan #3:  Eliminate the achievement gap in Writing by 2010.  Improve achievement as measured by WASL by 5% each year.  In 2007-2008 we will:

·        Provide a systematic format (log books) for keep track of pre-writing, drafting, note-taking, reflective writing, and revision work.

·        Analyze student work in collaborative groups on late start days.  We will look for trends, and identify strategies to address gaps in student skills.

·        Provide literacy support and direct instruction in Pathways Literacy classes.

·        Use the 6 Plus traits of effective writing as a common learning language throughout the school.

Action Plan #5:  Eliminate the over-representation of students of color (disproportionality) in our discipline data by 2010 by providing powerful leadership opportunities and mentoring for all students.  Substantially decrease disproportionality each year.  Improve communication between home and school.  In 2007-2008 we will:

·        Emphasize honorable, thinking, skillful citizenship.

·        Provide opportunities for student leadership in every aspect of the school.
