Hale/Summit Teen Health Center (THC)
The Nathan Hale/Summit Teen Health Center (THC) is open to all Hale students. Group Health Cooperative and Public Health, Seattle-King County, operate the THC. The THC staff include Dr. Jeff Lindenbaum, Medical Director, Nurse practitioners Elizabeth Herrick and Kathleen Lange, mental health counselor, Allison Dennin and Patti Taylor, administrative specialists. The staff of the THC also work closely with Meg Davis and Mary Paradise the school nurses at Nathan Hale and Summit. The goal of the THC is to provide free, accessible, friendly, non-judgmental, compassionate care for all students. The THC offers a variety of routine and confidential health services including: injury and illness care, physicals and sports exams, immunizations and tuberculosis testing, reproductive health services such as birth control, emergency contraception, and STD screening. Examples of types of mental health services include individual and/or group therapy for depression, poor self-esteem, stress, anxiety, as well as school and home issues. The THC also provides teaching and written information on a number of health topics such as nutrition, exercise, sports performance, tobacco cessation and stress reduction.
