Attendance Policy
revised as of January 9, 2007

Students are expected to be in class on time every day
We believe that attendance is
so important to student achievement and learning that: Students
will lose credit upon the 10th absence during the semester (excused or
unexcused) unless: 1) a contract is in place
and students are meeting the terms of the contract –or - 2) an appeal is granted
3 unexcused tardies = 1
unexcused absence 1 unexcused late more than
10 minutes = 1 unexcused absence tardy = within the first 10
minutes Students are responsible for
making up work missing during an absence. Parents/guardians must
excuse an absence within 48 hours Planned absences such as
family trips must be approved three days before the start of the absence Teacher should communicate
with grade level administrator and counselor when they notice an absenteeism
pattern. Attendance office will
notify students if they obtain 5 absences in a marking period (3 for 9th
grade). The student will be notified
when they have 10 absences in a marking period (5 for 9th grade), regarding
their loss of credit. Appeals will be held if necessary. |
