What is Scholarly Responsibility?

Integrated Studies 2007-2008

Tape this document to inside cover of all three IS logbooks.

·                     It makes up 10% of your grade in all three IS classes

·                     It is determined by your teachers with your input at least once per quarter

·                     High Trust Rules that lead to Personal Responsibility will lead to Scholarly

            Responsibility.

Be on Time

Be in class, at your desk, with all your classroom materials out of your back pack, on your desk and ready to go before class starts.

Come Ready and Prepared to Learn.

Ready means that you have everything you need for the class period including log book, paper, pens, pencils, homework, readings and any other material you will need for that day.  You will always be successful at this if before you go to bed at night you check your log book assignment page and gather everything that you have done and will need for tomorrow and put it all NEATLY in your back pack for school the next day.

Prepared means you come with an open attitude, willing to listen, learn and participate.  It means that if you have assignments due, that they are done.  It means that you are mentally checked in.

Respect Your Rights and the Rights of Others to Learn.

Everyone deserves your unconditional respect.  We are people on this earth and every one has equal rights.  In our classroom that means everyone has an equal right to learn.  You can show your respect for yourself and others by learning and abiding by the classroom procedures that have been explained to you and if you don’t know what a proper procedure is to ask.

Work at Learning

Everyone learns at their own speed.  Learn at yours.  Try your best and then try harder.  Learning can be fun but it is also work.  We are here to do the work of learning and also have some fun while doing it.

Ask For Support

If you are having trouble with in-class learning don’t be afraid to ask for support from first your fellow students and if they can’t help you then your teacher.  If you are unclear about teacher instruction, make sure you know what the procedure is to have your teacher stop their full class instruction and help you with your individual needs.  There is always time to give you support whether that is during class, after school, at homework help center or some other time.
