Essential Question: "How can we be the change you want to see in the world?"

Syllabus Overview

Nathan Hale's Tenth Grade Integrated Studies program is a year-long course of integrated study in Biology, Social Studies and Language Arts that revolves around the central question of the year, "How can we be the change we want to see in the world?" The team consists of teachers in Biology, Language Arts and Social Studies, working with an instructional assistant, a consulting IEP teacher, a bilingual education teacher, and a counselor. Students complete rigorous curriculum in all three subjects, finishing each unit with a series of major projects that include mock trial, extensive research and writing, topical magazine production, assorted performances and demonstrations, art, website and video production, literature, history and science. The program's central teaching values include inclusion, integration, personalization and collaboration. Curriculum is targeted at an honors level, with focus classes available to IEP students. Students are expected to strive for a high level of responsible scholarship, creativity and achievement. .
