OPERA

HOME

In addition to facilitating students attending dress rehearsals, the Seattle Opera Education Department provides several other opportunities for students to learn about opera. Nathan Hale is able to take advantage of two of these as perquisites to bringing so many students to the dress rehearsals.

  • Back Stage Tour – On Wednesday October 17, twenty-five to thirty lucky Hale students will get a free backstage tour of the Seattle Opera. This was a huge success last year and really afforded us with a much better appreciation for the tremendous amount of teamwork, expertise, precision and time it takes to produce an opera in McCaw Hall. Students will depart from Nathan Hale at 9:30 a.m. and return before the start of 5th period at 1:00 p.m. Participants will need to get a field trip form signed by their parents and all relevant teachers (1st, mentorship and 3rd). We will be stopping at Pagliacci for a pizza lunch before returning to campus. We will need several cars so if there are a couple of interested parents who would like to drive/chaperone please contact me.

  • School Visit – A member of the Seattle Opera Education team will visit Nathan Hale on Thursday December 20 to present background information about the company’s upcoming production of Pagliacci.
