The first challenge for the film group was to come up with a storyboard that relates to the theme decided on by our class, "Global Power is a Question of Balance." Rob, Chris, and Hana worked through the weekend to come up with a creative script.. The solution was to make a video that addressed how globalization affects trade in Latin America and how that, in turn, affects the people of Latin America. The next step for this group was to create a storyboard with two different styles of video. The Ken Burns style, in which still pictures are used with voice over, and "normal" style, where Rob and Chris will be having a monologue (where Hana tapes), in which they represent the people vs. the corporate world in a debate over the effects of globalization. From the farmer's point of view, played by Chris, globalization had made the lives of farmers miserable. The small family farms could not compete against the cheaper imported crops. The farmers were forced to sell their land and move to the cities, where they are homeless and jobless. This is sure to offer insight into a different way of living that many of us have never thought about before. We hope you enjoy.
