Nathan Hale High School
A Member of the Coalition of Essential School
Founded in 1963, Nathan Hale High School is an urban, public high school located in Seattle, Washington. During the 2001-2002 school year, 1000 students from around the world will meet and mingle in the pursuit of academic excellence. Nathan Hale is a member of Ted Sizer's Coalition of Essential Schools.
In harmony with the Ten Common Principles of the Coalition, high academic standards and expectations apply to all students. Students demonstrate mastery of skills and concepts through exhibitions and through traditional forms of assessment. Critical thinking skills are emphasized through the consistent practice of The Five Habits of Mind.
Nathan Hale High School offers students a personalized environment in which to learn and grow. As part of the "Mentorship Program," each adult works with a small group of students for two hours per week. We support small class sizes whenever possible.
