Ø      PE Waivers and community service documentation are due by Friday, 5/30.

Ø      Senior Prom guest passes are available on the main office counter.  These must be completed and returned by 3pm on Thursday, 5/29

ON FRIDAY, 5/16, the Class of 2010 is hosting a student/teacher Ultimate Frisbee game, 3:30-5:30 on Raider Field.  Sign up in front of the AC today-any level of experience is ok!  Cost to attend:  $3 w/ASB; $5 w/out ASB.

VOCAL JAZZ AUDITIONS for students wanting to be part of an advanced choir that is challenging travels and performs at festivals and NH events.  Auditions will be 5/26-6/4.  You need to have one song prepared accapella; a jazz song is preferred but any song within your comfortable range is acceptable.  Some pitch recognition exercises and sing some scales, and your singing range will be determined.  Sign up in Rm. 131 today.  Contact Mr. Nolet, 252.3748, or danolet@ seattleschools.org if you have any questions.

Summer Nursing Careers Camp, 7/14-18 at Children's Hospital.  Current sophomores-seniors can learn about nursing and related careers like pharmacy, radiology and lab.  Hands-on experience with taking blood pressures, listening to heart/breath sounds and learning about other equipment. Day camp is 8 hours/day. Free. Applications available in Career Center; due 5/19.

YES! Youth Engaged in Service summer program for students 13-18 who live within Seattle city limits and have a social security number.  Complete 120 volunteer hours and then get $150 stipend.  60 hours might count for service.  Applications available in Career Center and Counseling Office; due May 16 http://www.seattle.gov/parks/teens/

STEPS summer teen job readiness program for students 14-19 with a social security number.  Must be able to lift 30 pounds, stand/walk for extended period of time and work in teams. Earn $599 at end of program. Send letter of interest and resume to Seattle Parks by 5/28.  Get more information in Career Center, Counseling Office or at http://www.seattle gov/parks/teens/

COMMUNITY SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES:

Youth Volunteer Corps (YVC) will be meeting at the Lake City Library on Mondays, 3:30-5:pm, starting today. The meetings will provide you with much needed community service hours. We will be discussing cool ways for youth to get involved in the area. Once we have ideas flowing we will take action and start doing projects around Lake City, ranging from mural art to plans for a skate park. Wedgwood Elementary is in need of volunteers help with their annual Fiesta Carnival.  Activities include inflatables, cakewalk, dunk tank, batting cage, Wii Guitar Hero Station, fishing game, lollipop tree and more!  If you like being around kids this is for you. Seattle Canoe & Kayak:

  • Needs help setting up tents, chairs, and tables Friday, 6/13, for a weekend regatta on Greenlake. 
  • Circus Contraption needs YOU to help Seattle’s premier aerial, carny sideshow circus get ready for their spring show.  They are currently hosting sewing party’s everyday at Theo’s Chocolate Factory in Fremont but there is other fun stuff to do.  See Teacher Ted in Rm. 222 for details.

SUMMER TRAFFIC EDUCATION registration materials are now available in the counseling office.  Classes begin 6/23 and end 7/23.  ALL registration is done through the US Mail so get your form in now!
