Technology
Greenwood is fully wired, so all staff and students can take advantage of the Internet and School District network resources. All classrooms have both new and donated PCs equipped with Microsoft Office and Encarta software. Printers and additional software are being provided through the PTA and community donations.
What are those mysterious blue "hats" on the lab computers? They are keyboard covers that help students learn to touch-type by hiding the keys from peeking eyes. |
In addition to classroom computers, we have several workstations in the library and a 30-seat computer lab. All classes use the lab for self-paced math, reading, and spelling work and the upper grades learn keyboarding each year. Many classes are also learning and practicing basic research and writing skills in the library and the technology lab.
With parent and community support we hope to continually expand our use of technology in support of classroom goals. This may include idea-mapping software, digital imaging, website development, and other technology tools for creative expression, exploration, and hands-on learning.
