Kindergarten
Ms. Kas Baker, Ms. Lori Forrest , Ms. Margaret Tougher
The three kindergarten classes have a great deal in common. Each is lively and fosters creativity. The students learn to follow school procedures, how to conduct themselves in, and develop an awareness of, the learning environment. The teachers engage in significant teaming during the school year. Their students learn to feel part of a group/community by practicing the concept of "school family." They use Second Step as one of the tools for character building, employing empathy and problem solving. The teachers strive to balance instructional time with free choice activities. Creative play is encouraged. The students learn to honor individual differences and achieve their potential. Kindergarten teachers use Greenwood's curriculum map to infuse aviation principles and the arts into teaching and learning.
