Dear West Seattle Families,

It has been such a pleasure to meet many of you at recent Denny tours, Open Houses, or at PTSA meetings. If you have already visited—thank you! If you are still interested in seeing our amazing students and staff during the school day, we do have one final tour on Monday, February 25, from 8:15 to 9:15 a.m. I would like to encourage everyone to make their choice for middle school no later than Friday, February 29, to ensure on on-time enrollment of your child.

Secondly, I am excited to share that we are very pleased to be running a free music camp for students in grades 4 th through 8 th this week, during Mid-Winter Break. If you are interested in having your fifth-grader participate in a similar camp during Spring Break, please contact Marcus Pimpleton at 206-252-8993 or at mjpimpleton@seattleschools.org.

Lastly, I have enclosed a copy of a recent letter I wrote regarding the new Denny and Chief Sealth construction project. As you will see from my letter, I believe that the project will allow for even more new and excited academic possibilities, as well as be both safe and based on middle school best practices. (It is also important to note that students entering 6 th grade next year will be with us in our current building for all of middle school, as the project won’t be done until 2011 and we will not need to go to an interim site.)
