Frequently Asked Questions
about Denny’s Community Learning Center/
Out of School Time Programs.
How do I sign up my child for out of school time programs?
*Registration forms are available in the main office or CLC Portable 504. Forms are also available online http://www.cityofseattle.net/parks/Teens/clc.htm.
How do I know my child is in an out of school time class?
*Students that are registered into a class and have an after school bus route will receive an orange OST confirmation letter during homeroom period. This OST confirmation letter will have the student’s after school schedule, including the OST instructors name, room number, and the day each class will be held. Students are instructed to bring this letter home and share with their parent/guardian. As soon as a student has received this letter, they can begin to stay after school.
Is attendance taken?
*Each OST class will have an attendance sheet. The instructor will take attendance daily. If you’re child has missed 5 or more days consistently, their name will be dropped out of the program.
How do I know if my child has an after school bus?
How do I find out what their bus stop is?
*After school bus numbers and bus stops will be included on the student’s OST confirmation letter. Students that attend after school programs will receive a bus token from their after school instructor. Students ARE NOT allowed on after school buses without this bus token. Bus tokens are to reassure that the student has attended an after school class.
What are the program hours and days?
*Denny’s Community Learning Center/Out of School Time Programs are offered Monday-Friday from 2:30pm-4:30pm.
When does the program start and end?
*Denny’s Community Learning Center/Out of School Time Programs offers 3 sessions-Fall, Winter and Spring Session.
Fall session is 10/1/07-12/7/07 and Winter Session is 1/14/08-3/28/08 and Spring Session is 4/7/08-6/6/08
Who do I call if I want to know if my student has been
attending out of school time classes?
*Please feel free to call the Denny Community Learning Center at (206) 252-8987 regarding out of school time programs. Our hours are 9:30am-6:00pm. For an emergency, call (206) 423-2129.
What does it mean if my child is “waitlisted”
for an out of school time program?
*If your child is waitlisted for an OST class that means your child is NOT in that program after school. When that class size becomes smaller, then the waitlist will move forward. We encourage parents to call the Denny CLC office to check up on their student’s waitlisted status. If a student’s waitlist status has changed, an OST confirmation letter will be sent to their homeroom.
What are the rules and expectations for the
students during out of school time?
*Students that stay after school are expected to follow the same regular school day rules. Students that violate any of these expectations may lose their privileges after school.
What about after school sports?
*The Denny Community Learning Center coordinates after school transportation for after school sports. Students that are interested in signing up for an after school sport can sign up their student through the CLC/OST registration form. Students must pay attention for practice days through the daily bulletin. A physical and OST form is required BEFORE attending practice.
My student wants to change or drop an
Out of School Time class, what is the process?
*To drop a student out of a class, the student must bring a signed parent letter stating what day and class they would like to drop. To change a class, the student must fill out another OST registration form. When a change is being requested, another OST confirmation letter will be sent to the student’s homeroom with their new OST schedule.
