Education: BA in Spanish from Eastern Washington University. I
am also currently working on my MA.Ed.
Years at Denny: 1st year and I am really enjoying it.
Favorite books: I love to read all kind of books especially
mystery books.
Hobbies: Reading, cooking, dancing, watching movies,
swimming, and bowling

Standards Taught in Class:
Since Proyecto is an academic support program, we reinforce the standards being taught across the curriculum at Denny Middle School.

Course Description:

· Short overview: Proyecto Saber provides instructional and support services to Latino students with an emphasis on academic assistance, cultural enrichment, intervention, and school-home liaison. Proyecto also provides additional support specifically in math, which helps them academically.

· Special projects or other unique experiences as a part of class: To expose students to resources and role models by working in collaboration with community organizations that serves the Latino population. To empower students by promoting pride and self-esteem through culturally relevant projects, activities and cultural and historical presentations.

· Expected Outcomes: Students will improve their academic achievement and attendance, improve their basic math and language skills, and learn about their history and culture.

· Assessments used: Grading is based on daily class work and participation, attendance, and completion of a special project. In addition, we will check grade reports, attendance records, and progress reports from teachers.

· Materials used: Supplementary resource materials to reinforce regular classroom learning. In addition, we have a small library of books by Latino authors and other resource materials that relate to the Latino experience. People from the community are invited to make presentations in the classroom.

· Grading
o Each month you will be taking an open book quiz on the cultural facts taken at the beginning of each class.
o You will also be required to give 2 presentations on two topics given at a later date
o Every day you will be given 2 participation points
o Every assignment is to be turned in on time. If absent you have 3 days to turn it in.
