Course Description
• Short overview:
o Key mathematical concepts covered include: multiples, factors, prime and composite numbers; data gathering and presentation into tables and graphs, averages; fractions, decimals, and percents; properties of 2-dimensional geometric shapes including sides and angles; probability and chance.
o Key scientific concepts include: Scientific method of testable research including hypothesis definition, experiment design, data collection and analysis, and result presentation; chemistry, the environment, and matter; biology; science fair; family life and sexual health.
• Special projects, or other unique experiences as a part of class:
o Hands on work with manipulatives, games and puzzles
o Science labs in small work groups
• Expected Outcomes:
o Develop understanding, strategies and skills required for practical use and further study of mathematics and science
