Teacher Bio: This is my 10 th year teaching and 1 st at Denny Middle School. Prior to teaching at Denny I taught at John Marshall for 7 seven years and Sacred Cedars Academy for 3 years. Currently, I am also a part-time math instructor at Edmonds Community College where I have been for the past 4 years. When I am not a Denny, I love to spend time with my family, read, and working out at the gym. My professional goal is learn more instructional math strategies.

Math Course Description

The course will cover the various strands of math including number, geometry, algebra, and data analysis. In particular the course will cover understanding fraction operations, computing with decimals, similarity, comparing groups, probability and expected value, positive and negative numbers, and introduction of algebra.

Grading Policy

A = 90% - 100%

B = 80% - 89%

C = 70% - 79%

D = 60% - 69%

N = 59% and below

Mark/Grading Breakdown

50% = tests, quizzes, assignment/projects

25% = homework

20% = participation (this includes warm-up)

5% = attendance

Math Course Description

This course is presented at an accelerated learning pace, focus on grade level expectations (GLEs) that are above students' assigned grade levels in reading and mathematics, and emphasize an advanced level of complexity and depth. The course will cover the various strands of math including number, geometry, algebra, and data analysis. In particular the course will cover introduction of algebra, similarity, positive and negative numbers, linear relationships, three-dimensional measurement, linear and inverse variation, Pythagorean theorem, expressions, and quadratic equations.

Grading Policy

A = 90% - 100%

B = 80% - 89%

C = 70% - 79%

D = 60% - 69%

N = 59% and below
