What is AVID?
* AVID is an elective class that prepares motivated students
for success in school and college.
* AVID comes from the Latin root avidus,
meaning “eager forknowledge..”
* AVID was started in 1980, to increase college-preparation
for students who may previously have had
no access to such programs.
*AVID sends one-third more students
to four-year colleges than the local and national average.
