In early Fall, Seattle Public Utilities provides salmon eggs and care instructions to fifth graders so students can observe and record the salmon life cycle. In late Spring, the city utility district provides a field trip for students to release their salmon into the wild.
In addition, volunteers from the Waste Management department of the city utility teach students how to collect water from various sources, record water quality, and present their data as a study.
