PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT DAY- OCTOBER 9TH - NO SCHOOL
Local Students Travel to NYC to Compete in the International Double Dutch
Competition at the Famous Apollo Theater
Seattle, WA, December 1 2008
Unicycle, juggling, jump rope, 360’s, upside down, right side up, flips, kicks, dances and more are what you will see when you witness the amazing routine that the dedicated students of Seattle Public Schools have put together to take to NYC for Sunday’s National Double Dutch League competition.
Dearborn Park gymnasium in Seattle’s Beacon Hill neighborhood is the practice space for the dedicated and strong Seattle Cirque and Acrobatics Team (SCATS). They have been practicing for months to prepare for their upcoming journey to NYC where they will be on stage and competing against teams from as far reaching as Japan, Netherlands and US teams. The event will take place on Sunday December 7th at Noon.
This team has what it takes, “Their dynamic routine which includes gymnastics and props is unlike anything I have seen kids accomplish in the past at this competition” Andrea Gardner, Northwest Double Dutch Director. “I have been to this event for the past four years and feel that these kids will definitely give the audience the show they are looking for.”
Last year alone, this team performed at 14 local events and attended a double dutch camp in Florida. The Physical Education teacher at Dearborn Elementary is a strong, demanding and nurturing coach for the team of students who range in age from 11-15.

For additional information on the SCATS Double Dutch Team and their upcoming journey/competition, please contact Coach Ed Adams at 206 252-6974 or email at edadams@seattleschools.org.
