About Concord International Elementary

Vision
Concord is a diverse community that builds lifelong learners. Positive self-esteem is the foundation. Learning skills are the building blocks. Learning is active, integrated, and culturally relevant. We are responsible, respectful, contributing members of society in an ever-changing world.

History
Concord School is the third public elementary school for South Park since 1892. Once a community of Italian and Japanese farmers, South Park is hemmed in by freeways and industry, but Concord School still educates the community's children.

In 1907, South Park School was built on 12th Avenue S between S Sullivan Street and S Thistle Street. In January 1914, the Seattle School District completed Concord School and students and teachers trooped from the old school to the new one.

Concord School is designed in the Colonial Revival style and built out of brick. It was remodeled and a new classroom wing was added in 2000. The renovation included adding a Gymnasium and multi-purpose room. In keeping with the long-standing traditions of a neighborhood family school, Concord has small classes with no more than 25 students to one teacher.

STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT PROGRAM
FUNDED BY I-728:

One teacher was hired to reduce class size in the primary grades reducing the student teacher ratio to 20 to 1. Our students are able to receive more personalized instruction due to reduced class size.
