High test scores and strong academics
Coe's test scores place it 19th out of 350 Puget Sound Schools. Recent cluster testing show Coe as the top school among Seattle elementary schools. All classrooms place a big emphasis on reading, math, and writing basics. Our curriculum includes an inquiry-based Science curriculum from the National Science Foundation that is taught in all grades, beginning with Kindergarten. We have computers in every classroom and our new building will feature state of the art technology capabilities.
Experienced, dedicated staff
We experience very low staff turnover, resulting in very experienced and dedicated teachers that include a librarian, music teacher, and a full-time PE teacher. Our principal, David Elliott, brings strong leadership and great vision to the school.
Diverse student body
Our Bilingual program and high academic standards attract students from all over the city and adds to the diversity of our student body. We celebrate this diversity with International night, and have received grants allowing us to implement programs in ethnic dance and world music.
Community school
We are a small, intimate school where all students are known and supported by teachers, staff, and parents. Coe School enjoys strong parent involvement and is an integral part of the Queen Anne community.
Enrichment activities
Coe has a long history of supporting the arts through a variety of visual, musical, and performing arts clubs and events. We regularly receive art grants, which have funded a variety of unique projects, including; African drum making and creating a video documentary on the history of Coe. We also have quite a vibrant chess club run by Martin and Tanya White. Finally, we offer world language and culture learning, a before school and after school program / classes.
