Correction: Last weeks News mentioned a fundraising event at the Q Café the same weekend as the Rummage Sale at Coe. Unfortunately I attributed that event to the wrong family. I don’t know how I made the mistake, simply carelessness I assume, and I feel terrible about it. While I know it wasn’t for recognition in the Coe School News that this event was planned and carried out I do want to acknowledge the hard work and planning that first grader Sydney Mayer and her family put into this to support Haitian relief. Our kids have opened their hearts to so many concerns and programs that have been presented to them and this is another example of how much they care. Thank you Sydney and family for another example of that caring.
Celebration Time: I have been looking forward to this Saturday for a long time, as I’m sure the families of the organizers have—for altogether different reasons. Since the Coe Auction was restarted a few years back it has always been a highlight of the year. To see ya’ll dressed up, get to meet some significant others and simply to share in the energy and passion for Coe School makes it a very special evening. I hope you can join us.
Update from Nurse Joan: It has been one month since our "All School Lice Check." The office has received no reports of lice in the last 2 weeks. We hope this means our problem is "contained." Please let the office know if your child has lice. We will maintain confidentiality. Reporting to the office helps us track and contain the outbreak. Thanks to all who have diligently checked and reported.
Multicultural Week: I hope you can join us for all the events that surround this special week, culminating with our evening celebration on March 18th. That night has become another highlight of the year for me as we welcome families from all over the world to share with us their food, traditions and cultures. The diversity of our histories and the pride in sharing it has been a true blessing over the years. I would encourage you strongly to participate and certainly to attend and get a better picture of what Coe is. The other celebration I’m looking forward to greatly is our Day in the Life of an Afghan Student on the 16th. This is our first attempt at this and I think it will be a lot of fun. John Hay had their event a week ago and from all accounts it was extremely successful. Feel free to drop by and be sure to review last weeks Coe School News for ideas on how to participate at home with your family.
Take Care,
David Elliott
