Cougar This, Cougar That


·      NIKE 5K for Kids Run Seattle – The big run is THIS Saturday.  A few reminders: Mandatory packet pickup at NikeTown is Wednesday and Thursday from 2 - 7 PM, Friday from 10 AM - 6 PM

If you're running the 5K and want an official time, (there are age group awards) you must pick up a timing chip on race morning.

7:30 AM -.All entrants encouraged to arrive

8:00 AM start 5K.

9:00 AM - Start I Mile run/walk

Cougars that wish to start together or just check in with each other look for Mr. Murray. He will be at the starting point with a Coe sign in front of NikeTown. Due to Mr. Murray’s recent injury, he will not be running. He will be at the finish line to cheer on our Cougars. Coe families may gather at the finish for the awards ceremonies. Look for the Coe sign! Mr. Murray and Mr. Elliott,( who will be running a half marathon trail run in Bellingham on Saturday), thank you for your participation. You have helped raise $400 for PE equipment at Coe.

·      General PTA meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 13th  6:30 PM – 9 PM. Following general meeting, Adam Shapiro will lead an Educational Issues Forum

Free childcare will be provided while parents attend the PTA meeting. Childcare is available on a first-come, first-serve basis and no diaper babies!

COE VOLUNTEER CORNER

 

Save our Book Fair! – Needed are TWO leaders to manage the Scholastic book fair held in the Fall.  You will work with Mr. Kovnat (Librarian), coordinate the volunteers, set up & break down. It is 3 days of long hours but then it’s done!

 

Jog-a-thon Volunteers needed to help with day of event activities; set up, passing out treats and water, accounting. Contact Tracy Arntz at 28-9202 or tracypaullaw@hotmail.com

 

Young Author's Day. We need 60 volunteers for 2 hours on May 23rd, 10:00-12:00. Come be with our students as they share their written word from the books that are creating. This is a very rewarding way to see Coe in action and at its very best. We will be joined by acclaimed Queen Anne author, Carol Shaeffer, who will preview one of her new books with us. SPS District has announced 3 community meetings on the Strategic Plan hosted by Dr. Goodloe-Johnson and SPS Senior Staff. These public engagements will provide our families with an opportunity to review and offer valuable input about the Plan. The following are the dates and times for the meetings:

May 14th - Roosevelt High School, 7:00 – 8:30 PM

May 15th - West Seattle High School, 7:00 – 8:30 PM
