Title: Peruvian Tunics: Oil pastel on paper

Project: Throughout Peruvian prehistory the tunic was the primary item of clothing for men.  Tunics have slit opening at the top for the neck a display a variety of weaving techniques, patterning, and a wide range of color.

     In addition to being practical they represented different ethnic groups, social status, and religious beliefs.

     The period from 600-900 AD was very rich in textile history.  Thousands of well preserved examples survive to make up the longest most complete textile record in the world.
