SPRING WASL SCORES ARE COMING!
WHEN WILL I GET MY STUDENT'S SCORES?
1) Seniors will be notified of pass / fail scores on May 27.
2) Sophomores and Juniors will receive scores at school by June
9. These score reports will be mailed home.
3) Freshmen and those Sophomores with ninth grade credits will not
receive their scores until September.
WHAT IF MY STUDENT DID NOT PASS ONE OR MORE WASL TESTS?
Your student will be coming home with a sheet that will outline
all of his or her options to assist you with your planning. Here
is a sample of some of the options available to you:
SUMMER COLLEGE
Current Seniors and Juniors who have not been successful in two
or more WASL content areas are being enrolled in the Summer College
program at Seattle area community colleges. This program runs from
July 9 - August 14. Students will be also registered for the August
WASL retake. See Mrs. Douglas to see if your student qualifies for
this program.
AUGUST WASL RETAKE
Registration for the August WASL retakes will be from June 9
- June 27.
Reading WASL - Monday, August 11
Math WASL - Tuesday, August 12
Writing WASL - Wednesday / Thursday, August 13-14
Testing will take place at West Seattle, Franklin, Ballard, and
Ingraham High Schools. Registration for the August WASL retake will
be online at http://www.k12.wa.us/waslregistration/.
Contact Mrs. Douglas (see below) for more assistance with registering
your student.
CERTIFICATE OF ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT OPTION:
- One option in the fall is for your student to take a college
entrance exam that can count for a WASL.
- SAT and ACT Tests - Take the SAT or ACT test. Reaching a certain
score on these tests qualifies as passing the WASL
MATH GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS
Students who do not pass the Math WASL will need to take and pass
more math classes their Junior and Senior years in order to graduate.
Juniors - take and pass math course all year and take the WASL
Seniors - take and pass math course all year and take the WASL
Students who meet these graduation requirements will graduate with
a high school diploma but will not earn the Certificate of Academic
Achievement.
We look forward to working with each student to make sure he
or she meets these requirements next year. For more information,
contact Lori Douglas, Dean of Students, at ltdouglas@seattleschools.org
or at 252-8573.
