A TRUE/FALSE question makes a statement, and students must choose whether that statement is true or false.

Examples:

1. Network television (channels like ABC, NBC, FOX, and NBC) is free to viewers because companies pay to have their advertisements played during shows. True / False

2. Subscription channels (like HBO and Showtime) have no commercials, so they make money by charging viewers a monthly fee to watch their programs. True / False

 

A MULTIPLE CHOICE question gives students several options to select from, only one of which is correct.

Examples:

1. Which of the following is a subscription channel?

a.) CNN
b.) WB
c.) MSNBC
d.) STARZ
e.) MTV

2. Which statement best explains why your parents won't subscribe to HBO?

a.) HBO is too expensive.
b.) HBO's programs are inappropriate for children to watch.
c.) TV rots your brain.
d.) This family already watches entirely too much television.
e.) They like Cinemax better than HBO.

A SHORT ANSWER QUESTION asks a student to explain something in their own words.

Examples:

  1. Your parents have agreed that they will consider subscribing to one of the premium entertainment channels (like Showtime or HBO). Write a few sentences telling them which channel you want them to pay for and why.

  2. A UFO has landed in your back yard. An alien has wandered into your house and is now sitting on your couch hogging the remote. It asks you to explain the difference between a free channel and a subscription channel. Write your answer below.
