Tuesday, October 16, 2007 Assignment

You will be reading "Enuma Elish," a Babylonian creation myth.

  • Type "Enuma Elish" into the search box below.

  • You will be prompted to sign in. Scroll down to SEALTH, then type seahawk in the mascot box.

  • Scroll down to the NetTrekker results, and click the first result.

  • When the article comes up, click on the button that says "Dictionary," and then begin to read the article. This article should take you about 20 minutes to read

  • Click on any words you don't understand, and the dictionary will automatically bring up a definition for you.

  •  After you have read the article, please open to a new page in your notebook and give it a heading with the title, "Enuma Elish: Babylonian Creation Myth."

  • Then answer these questions:
    1. What is your opinion of this story?
    2. What similarities do you see between it and religions that exist today?
    3. What differences do you see between it and religions today?

When you have finished, you may begin to work on the body of your persuasive essay on the Tower of Babel.

Film Crew: Work on learning how to use the equipment with Mr. Thomsen in Room 111, or read up on cinematography using our Digital Learning Commons here in Room 6

Researchers: Use the digital learning commons to research these key words regarding your country:

Saudi Arabia: Bedouin, Arabs, Islam, Mohamed, Mecca

Israel: Abraham, Jerusalem, Temple, Diaspora, Palestine

Iran: Islam, Sunni, Shiite, Persia, Shah

Interviewers: Work on calling contacts with Mr. Thomsen, or research more contacts with me in Room 6.

Mr. Thomsen has assigned team leads. Please get together as a group and organize your work by what your team lead says needs to be done.

Researchers:
Continue to use Digital Learning Commons to research the topics given yesterday. If you feel that you have researched enough valuable information, meet with other members of your country's research team to coordinate that information and begin to write a basic overview of your country's history and culture.
