Your ASB and Class Officers have organized a drug free week here at Sealth. Throughout the week you’ll be seeing, reading and hearing facts about how drug and alcohol abuse can affect high school students. It is the goal of ASB to promote a healthy environment here at school, and today you can promote that lifestyle by wearing the color pink to show your support. (Sam Reed, sjreed@seattleschools.org)

IB students taking exams next May - Remember your exam fees are due. Please bring your registration form and check or money order to the bookroom as soon as possible. Remember to see Ms. Robb if you want to make special payment arrangements. (Laura Robb, lkrobb@seattleschools.org)

Would you like to perform at Sealthapalooza, Chief Sealth's Multicultural Night?? Last year this was Sealth's biggest Family Night and had 9 student groups perform…everything from the Poetry Club to the Break Dancers. Think you have what it takes? Do you knit? Do you crochet? Would you like to learn? Today - and every Friday - during both lunches, come to the Library for The Crafty Group. Brooke and the YMCA are paying for supplies, and lots of teachers will be on hand to keep you company as you work on a project you’ve already started, or to teach you what you want to learn. Registration for the next after-school driver training class will be Thursday, November 12 at 2:50 p.m. in Portable 303. Registration forms are available in the Counseling Office. Classes begin November 16. Call the Traffic Education Office for more information or if you have questions – 252-4735.

Athletics:

The football team will play their final game of the season tonight versus Mercer Island. The game will be at 5:00 p.m. at Memorial Stadium. Wish them luck!

Future of the Law Institute is a year long program for minority and economically disadvantaged high school students interested in learning more about a career in the law. FLI provides students with substantive legal workshops, career counseling, a mock trial, courthouse tour, opportunities to meet with legal professionals, paid summer internships and scholarships.  Applications are now being accepted on a rolling basis through www.futureofthelaw.org. The Student Conservation Association Conservation Leadership Corps offers leadership training, hand-on conservation service learning, monthly outdoor excursions, and all-expense paid summer travel and gear.  Students in grades 9-11 are encouraged to apply by November 15.   www.CLCSeattle@theSCA.org 324-4649.  The National SCA offers unpaid internships protecting and restoring national parks, marine sanctuaries, cultural landmarks, and community green spaces in all 50 states. http://www.thesca.org/ (Chris Syrjala, cmsyrjala@seattleschools.org)

City Heroes offers service learning opportunities 2-3 Saturdays a month from January through May.
