Sports Marketing
The Sports & Events Marketing Program provides a site-based marketing
resource for Chief Sealth High School and its students. The class immerses
an academic, economic and ethnically diverse group of students in challenging,
project based, educational opportunities that have positive outcomes for
both the school and community, in its ten year history, 97& of the
students enrolled in the program graduate high school and 92% go on to
college. This compares to a school wide average of 82% graduate high school,
and 78% entering college.
As part of the class, students make decisions on salaries, bonuses,
and participation requirements in addition to conducting research, creating
budgets, writing proposals, grants/ sponsorship packages and producing
the project or event.
The goals of the program are to:
- Make education relevant to students by creating “real
world” projects and providing students with job ready skills.
- Incorporate the Essential Learning Requirements of
Education (EALR’s) into creative curricula and programs.
- Attract students to Chief Sealth and Seattle Public
Schools by creating events and programs that generate positive exposure.
- Develop events and programs that create non-traditional
revenue streams for the school and generate job for Chief Sealth students
through project related involvement.
