Classroom Computers
As of March 2002, each upper elementary classroom has three to six new PC's
and the primary classrooms have one to three PC's. All computers have access
to the Internet, which is filtered through a program at the district level to
assure that students only have access to appropriate Internet content. Updated
wiring by the school district provides faster and more reliable Internet and
network service. In addition, the LAN in our school allows students to work
on their documents in the computer lab, and in the classroom.
Computer Lab Equipment
In the lab, we have twenty-five PC's, two scanners, two printers, a digital
writing tablet and a digital camera. Classes of students
come to the computer room at least once a week to work on special projects,
and publish work they are doing in the classroom. Children also learn keyboarding,
word processing, how to create multimedia presentations, and they can experiment
with the integration of art and technology using PhotoShop, and other software
donated by Adobe.
Visits to Getty Images
"Forty-two students and their teachers visited six departments
at Getty Images to see the employees in action. The kids participated in hands-on
projects at each stop, learning about the departments' mission while exploring
what its like to work at Getty Images. The kids get a chance to see some cool
careers and participate in Getty Images' passion for pictures."
