Committees
District Relations Committee (Maria
Gutierrrez)
- Monitors proposals that are under consideration by the Zone
and School District.
- Fosters and maintains relationships with other schools and educational
groups.
- Represents the views and concerns of the Thornton Creek Site Council to
the larger Seattle Public School community.
Grant Writing Committee (Denise
Gonzalez-Walker)
- Identifies and seeks funding from a variety of sources to support
specific programs at Thornton Creek.
Communications Committee (Al
Tietjen)
- Maintains the Thornton Creek website (http://www.seattleschools.org/schools/ae2/)
- Produces and distributes the Thornton Creek directory and handbook.
Hospitality Committee
- Organizes the welcoming events for new families.
- Plans a variety of appreciation events for teachers and staff.
Fundraising Committee (Denise
Spring)
- Plans and coordinates events to raise funds to support Site
Council programs.
Curriculum Committee (Lisa Calvert, Nicole Swedberg)
- Assists in implementing curriculum consistent with the philosophy
of Expeditionary Learning and the founding mission of our school.
- Organizes curricular events and hosts parent workshops..
Recruitment & Hiring Committee (Sandra
Brettler)
- Plans and coordinates recruitment of staff members for Thornton Creek.
Facilities Committee (Ed
Schwartz)
- Proposes and implements improvements to and maintenance of facilities,
including water quality and earthquake preparedness.
Child Care for meeting
Site Council meetings are open meetings. Child care can be provided
if arrangements are made with Katharyne
Mitchell at least the day before the Site Council meeting.
